5 Common Airbrush Tanning Misconceptions

One of the best accessories you can have for your Summer look, is a gorgeous, glowing tan! Just a little bit of color can make you appear thinner, bring out the colors of your clothes and makeup, and gives you a boost of confidence that creates a certain “je ne sais quio” about you. What isn’t hot, is red, burnt, dried out skin from the sun that can later lead to premature aging and skin cancer. While sun tanning may be more natural (and less expensive), it’s also the most harmful to your skin. That’s why airbrush tanning is the safest, most convenient way to achieve that sun-kissed look. There’s a lot of misconceptions out there that make people nervous about airbrush tanning, learning more about the facts and benefits can help you decide if it’s right for you.

1 – “I’ll turn orange” – No one wants to look like an Oompa Loompa, and one the biggest fears with airbrush tanning is that it will come out looking orange or unnatural. But we PROMISE that you will not look orange with our airbrush tans, our staff is trained and certified in airbrush tanning, as well as choosing the perfect hue for your skin tone. We use Fantasy Tan®, which uses the amino acids in your skin to respond naturally to the DHA and other ingredients in the tanning formula for a perfect, natural looking glow.

2 – “It’s not worth the money because it fades too quickly” – This all depends on YOUR skincare routine before and after getting your airbrush tan. If you properly exfoliate before your airbrush tanning session, and avoid shaving, showering, and activities that cause you to sweat at least 8 hours after your airbrush tanning session, then the longevity of your airbrush tan will be extended. We offer a 50 minute session that includes a full body exfoliation to help the tan look smooth and last longer.

3 – “The chemicals they use aren’t safe” – The active ingredient in most self tanners is DHA (dihydroxyacetone), according to the American Academy of Dermatology, DHA is the safest, most effective ingredient in sunless tanning. DHA has been used in the cosmetic industry for over 30 years. Besides DHA, other ingredients in tanning formulas are used to nourish and rejuvenate your skin. These ingredients are not cancer causing, and will not dry your skin out like sun or bed tanning does.

4 – “It comes out blotchy” – A lack of moisture can cause the skin to shed resulting in uneven coloring, regularly moisturizing your skin after your airbrush tan and properly exfoliating prior to your airbrush tanning session will help you achieve a smooth, flawless glow.

5 – “You have to be naked for the entire session” – Not true. We do not require you to be naked at all in our tanning sessions and will only do what makes you feel comfortable. Don’t be afraid to ask questions prior to your session, we are here to give you an enjoyable, relaxing, comfortable experience.
